Photoblog Scripts and Programs
Installed on Your Web Server
If you're looking for a photoblog script or photoblog program to install on your webserver, this alphabetical list should be helpful. If you want a photoblog, but you're not interested in installing a script or program, you'll want to check out the Photoblog Hosting page.
- Atom Photoblog - Free, object-oriented PHP5/MySQL-scripts. Installer included.
- Birch - Photoblogging software written in Perl. Very clean and polished template.
- Blosxom - A single, low impact perl script with plugin architecture to allow photo integration. Helpful community support at the Blosxom Sourceforge project and User Blog.
- CFCPhotoBlog - A free ColdFusion based photo-blogging web application. Supports MySQL, MSSQLServer, and MSAccess. Many features including a world lat/long location map.
- Cheesecake Photoblog - A free, feature rich, buzzwords compliant photoblog application written in PHP using a popular MVC framework. Supports themes and extensible using addons.
- Comic Life - Create Comics in a snap or just have fun laying out your photos. Has .mac support to easily upload images. Very Slick
- DotClear - A blog PHP/mySQL script, which supports a plugin for using it as a photoblog (link for the plugin is only available in French right now)
- Drupal - A very full-featued CMS (content management system) with excellent photo and blog features. Uses PHP and MySQL.
- Folderblog - A small (20kb) PHP script that displays the images placed in a given subdirectory; customizable templates, comments, a caption posting interface, and intergrated thumbnail generation. (does not require a database) It can be used as either a photoblog or as a gallery (see Photoblog vs Gallery).
- Greymatter - Greymatter is the original opensource weblogging and journal software that was created by Noah Grey. It's based on Perl, but doesn't require database support.
- LivingDot Photos - LivingDot Photos enables you to create photoblogs and photo albums and add photos to them in a snap.
- LJPicPost - A small PHP script that checks an email address for an email with an image attachment and posts it to your LiveJournal account.
- Mobile PhotoBlog - Snap a picture with your mobile and send it right to your website! PHP/MySQL needed, easy to intergrate in your website.

- OneReaction PhotoBlog Software - A simple and customizable ASP.NET photoblogging application.
- PHP-Blogger - A PHP photoblogging script geared for posting slideshows. Email notification on update available. See demo at http://www.phpblogger.com/
- Picoplog - Picoplog's major strength is its simplicity: posting a photo is done by just uploading it to your web space. Picoplog does not require MySQL or any other DB. Picoplog is Free Software written in PHP.
- Pictorialis - A semantic and standards compliant image publishing tool built on Wordpress.
- Pixelpost Photoblog Application - One of the original photoblog applications. Pixelpost is a free Open Source project, powered by PHP and MySQL, with great community support on it's Forum.
- Plogx - Photoblog perl script with some special features like download a external gallery and add it to your photoblog, interactive picture browser con commands, and a image editor online. Actually it works with MySQL.
- Sylverblog - A PHP/MySQL based script for easily creating a very customizable photoblog (formerly known as PhotoBlogger, which was one of the first photoblogging scripts around)
- Textpattern - Another script that was originally a weblog script, using PHP/MySQL. With some technical know-how it can be tailored to suit your photoblogging needs. Visit the Textpattern Forums for support or help.
- WordPress - Like MT this is originally a weblog script (PHP/MySQL), but with some technical know-how it can be tailored to suit your photoblogging needs. Just visit the WordPress forums or Google and do a search.
- Yet Another Photoblog - A WP-Plugin which converts WordPress into a easy usable PhotoBlog. Virtually every existing theme can be adapted with little effort to become a full featured, semantic and standards compliant photoblog.
- PhotoQ - Plugin turning WordPress into a photoblog. Allows queue based photo management, batch uploads and automatic posting of photos at regular intervals (e.g. one photo a day).
- Pixels and Cursors - An ASP photoblog solution. While most other applications are built using PHP or ASP.NET - this program is tailored for the ASP programmers out there.
- PhotoStand - A free PHP/MySQL photoblogging application. Highly customizable, many features such as importation, template editor, multi-users, etc.
- linuxuser.at's photoblog - Yet another free PHP/MySQL photoblog. This time with script.aculo.us effects, image preloading, css-based themes as well as an automatic install script
- Expression Engine - A powerful PHP/MySQL blog publishing system that can also be used for a photoblog.
Installed on Your Home Computer
These programs are installed and run on your computer. Access to a web server (eg: www.myserver.com) and/or an account with a online service provider is required for publishing to the web. - JSPhotoBlog - A tool to publish collections of photos with text. i.e. a Travel diary. Generates all the HTML you need to upload to your webhost. Works with the simplest webservers: No PHP/Perl needed.
- Prosidio MyPhoto 3.0 - Windows application to easily create online photoblogs of your digital photos. MyPhoto publishes photoblogs to all popular web servers. Allows visitors to import your photoblog albums to their computer with all metadata (photos, captions, names, dates, etc.). free trial.
- PictureSync - Mac OS X application (for Windows soon) enabling one-click upload of annotated photographs to online services from your hard disk, iPhoto, iView MediaPro, Aperture and others. Supported services include Buzznet, Flickr, Fotki, Shutterfly, Smugmug, Textamerica, VOX, Webshots, and more. PictureSync has many powerful features and can be used free, or licenced for $15.
- Picklish - A free photo and video gallery creator. Create Flash-based galleries with simple drag and drop. Integrated FTP support.

- Flash photoblog world map - Takes latitude and longitude values from an xml file and plots the location along with details and a thumbnail onto a high resolution vector world map. Includes a php example for integrating with your existing photoblog.
- PhotoBlox - An embedded image viewing application.
- Snaplog Photo Blog - SnapLog is a Windows XP/2000/98 application that provides an easy interface to share photos on your website. A Photo Blog with one click publishing.

- Umibozu - cross platform web album generator with a wiki interface, design to maintain large collections of photos (GPL license)
- minimal Gallery - minimal Gallery is a free, open source, and standards compliant, picture gallery system written in PHP. It works without a database, which means it requires virtually no setup, and its modular architecture makes it highly customizable, both in form and function. License: Open Source Freeware (could not find specific licensing details)
- celum IMAGINE - Web-based image management solution with web export features, J2EE based. License: Commercial
- Coppermine - Photo gallery and management software, requires PHP and MySQL. License: GPL
- Gallery - Photo gallery and management software that requires PHP. License: GPL
- Exhibit Engine - online gallery using PHP and MySQL - designed for speed, reliability, compatibility, load balance, professional look, comfortable browsing and scalability.
- JAlbum - Photo album generator that runs on virtually any platform, requires Java VM.
- KoffeePhoto - Photo sharing software that runs on virtually any platform, requires Java VM. Pictures are available through streamed slideshows or from a free web space which may be used as a hosting service for photoblogging purposes.
- MiniGal - A simple, clean photo gallery, requires PHP.
- Photokorn Media Gallery - Photo gallery and management software, requires PHP and MySQL. Prices vary from 43-400eur.
- Pixory - Personal image server that uses Java VM.
- Porta - A no-nonsense, hassle-free photo album generator.
- SPG - Simple PHP Gallery - Exactly what it says.
- SimpleViewer - Flash-based photo gallery.
- Imago - an Ajax based photo gallery
- Zeugma - A PHP scripted photo album.
- 4image - An advanced PHP/MySQL gallery with many functions.
- Qdig - An easy-to-use PHP-based quick digital image gallery.
- iGal - A simple perl script to generate static galleries.
- singapore - A straightforward and beautiful PHP gallery which does not depend on a SQL database, though one can be used.
